What is the Interim Measures Alarm Fund

The Interim Measures Alarm Fund is a government scheme that provides funding for the installation of common fire alarm systems in residential buildings awaiting remediation.

It is designed to replace or reduce the need for waking watch arrangements and to improve safety for residents.

IMAF Funding, Standards and Remediation

The fund is administered by Homes England and forms part of the wider Cladding Safety Scheme. It supports the installation of systems that meet BS 5839-1 standards, typically Category L5, and align with NFCC guidance for simultaneous evacuation. IMAF is an interim measure. It supports safety while remediation work is planned and delivered, but it does not replace the need for long-term solutions to address underlying fire safety risks.
