Competency. Integrity. Value.

What is Expected from Funding Recipients

Recipients of funding under the Interim Measures Alarm Fund are required to meet a number of expectations that ensure the effectiveness of the scheme and the continued safety of the building.

The Requirement to Continue Remediation Work

A key requirement is that remediation work continues alongside the installation of the fire alarm system. The system is intended as an interim measure and does not remove the need to address the underlying fire safety issues that led to the adoption of a waking watch or similar strategy. Responsible Persons must therefore ensure that plans for remediation remain in place and are progressed within appropriate timescales.

Fire Safety Responsibilities After Funding Approval

Funding recipients must also confirm that all relevant fire safety measures are in place within the building. This includes any additional actions identified through fire risk assessments or guidance from fire authorities. The installation of an alarm system does not replace these requirements but works alongside them. There is also an expectation that systems are installed promptly once funding is approved. Delays can prolong reliance on waking watch arrangements and reduce the overall effectiveness of the scheme. As such, recipients are expected to work with contractors to ensure timely delivery.

Once installed, the system must be maintained in accordance with relevant standards. Although maintenance is not covered by the fund, it remains a critical part of ensuring that the system continues to function as intended. These expectations reinforce the role of the fund as part of a broader approach to building safety, ensuring that interim measures are effective while long-term solutions are delivered.
