What Can Be Funded

The Interim Measures Alarm Fund provides support for the capital costs associated with installing a common fire alarm system.

This includes the equipment required for the system, such as detectors, control panels, and associated components, as well as the labour involved in installation.

What Costs Are Included by IMAF Funding?

Commissioning and testing are also included within the scope of funding. This ensures that systems are fully operational and compliant before being brought into use. In cases where VAT cannot be recovered, this cost may also be covered as part of the funding.

The focus of the fund is on enabling the installation of systems that meet recognised standards and provide a reliable interim solution. As such, funding is limited to the upfront costs required to deliver the system.

What Costs Are Excluded from IMAF Funding?

Ongoing costs are not included. This means that maintenance, servicing, and any future modifications or removal of the system must be managed separately by the building owner or managing agent. These costs remain an important consideration, as regular maintenance is required to ensure continued compliance and system performance. The fund also does not cover waking watch costs or broader project management expenses. Its purpose is specifically to support the transition to a fire alarm system, rather than to fund all aspects of interim fire safety management.

By focusing on capital costs, the fund ensures that resources are directed towards the installation of systems that can provide a clear and lasting improvement over manual monitoring arrangements.
