NSI is the UK’s premier United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS) accredited independent certification body for security systems and fire safety. NSI approval is a highly respected and trusted hallmark in these sectors, demonstrating technical expertise and reassuring quality of service.
Correctly maintaining fire alarm systems is critical to maintaining a safe and secure environment in any building to reduce the potentially catastrophic consequences of a fire taking hold. They are designed to detect smoke or fire and alert occupants to evacuate. They are vital in preventing injuries, fatalities, and property damage caused by fires.
Fire alarm maintenance is among our core services here at NPG Fire Safety. We strongly believe prevention and early intervention are preferable to dealing with the alternative consequences.
A well-maintained fire alarm system can save lives and protect property by detecting fires and alerting occupants and emergency services promptly. The system should be designed to provide adequate coverage and comply with relevant regulations and standards.
NPG Fire Safety is third-party accredited under the BAFE SP203-1 scheme for design, installation, and maintenance. This means we can handle your fire alarm system from the concept stage to the installation, commissioning, and ongoing maintenance.
As a third-party accredited provider, we have demonstrated our competencies in this field to the highest industry standards, providing you with assurance that you are complying with your legal duties when appointing a competent person.
Once a fire alarm system is installed, regular servicing and maintenance by a competent person is a requirement to ensure that it continues to function correctly. We can provide this for you as part of any ongoing service agreement. This servicing will be carried out by a qualified and experienced NPG Fire Safety technician who will inspect the system, test it, and replace any faulty components. There is a requirement to maintain life safety precautions, and in doing so, this can help prevent false alarms, reduce the risk of system failure, and increase the lifespan of the fire alarm system.
We can undertake the maintenance of existing systems, which will initially involve a comprehensive takeover service.
Some of the key areas a takeover service should include are as follows:
Most fire alarms are required to be maintained at least twice per year by a competent person.
Commercial fire alarms should also be tested weekly in house by activating one call point per week in rotation and resetting the system at the panel.
We offer management packages in which we can assist the Responsible Person in testing their fire alarm systems, including multi-occupied commercial buildings, blocks of flats, HMOs, and holiday lets where staff may not be present.
To ensure our clients receive the most comprehensive service, we use an asset management software, Uptick. This software is ideal for business owners as it streamlines processes, providing a comprehensive overview of all your sites, assets, and outstanding remedial works for a complete audit/accountability trail on your own client portal.
