Why choose NPG to install or maintain your systems and equipment?

Correctly designing, installing, and maintaining security systems is essential for safeguarding your people and businesses. With increasing incidents of thefts and security breaches, it has become necessary to install advanced security systems. CCTV, Intruder Alarms, and Access Control installations are essential components of modern security systems that provide an extra layer of security and deter potential intruders from targeting your property.

Security system design, installation, and maintenance are among our core services here at NPG Fire Safety. We strongly believe in the security of your buildings and the safety of your people.

A well-designed security system can act as a deterrent to those acting unlawfully or reduce insurance premiums. The systems should be designed to provide adequate coverage and comply with relevant regulations and standards.

NPG Fire Safety is third-party accredited under the NACOSS Gold scheme for the design, installation, and maintenance of Access Control, Intruder Alarms, and CCTV. This means we can handle your security system from the concept stage to the installation, commissioning, and ongoing maintenance.

As a third-party accredited provider, we have demonstrated our competencies in this field to the highest industry standards, providing you with assurance that you are complying with your legal duties when appointing a competent person.

Design and installation of the correct system

CCTV systems are designed to monitor the premises and capture any suspicious activity, and with the advancement of technology, they can now be remotely accessed, allowing you to view the footage from anywhere in the world, even through an app on your mobile phone. This feature provides an added level of convenience and peace of mind, as you can monitor your property even when you are away.

Intruder alarms are another important component of security systems. These alarms are designed to alert you and sometimes the authorities in case of any unauthorised access to your property. The alarm signal can be monitored remotely through our alarm receiving centre partner or directed to key holders. As an accredited provider, we can offer police response monitoring for burglar alarms.

Intruder alarms come in different types, including wired and wireless systems. It is essential to choose a system that suits your requirements. While both systems achieve the same aim, wireless systems can be installed with minimum mess and disruption.

Access control systems come in different types, including key card access, biometric access, and keypad access. Access control systems provide an added level of security as they ensure that only authorised personnel can access specific areas of your property. A biometric access control system is one of the most secure and reliable, as it uses unique physical characteristics such as fingerprints or facial recognition to verify identity.

All of our installations are commissioned in accordance with the relevant standards, and a certificate of conformance is issued under our NACOSS Gold scheme.

Ongoing maintenance

Once the security system is installed, regular servicing and maintenance by a competent person are essential to ensure that it continues to function correctly. We can provide this for you as part of any ongoing service agreement. This servicing will be carried out by a qualified and experienced NPG Fire Safety technician, who will inspect the system, test it, and replace any faulty components. This proactive approach ensures compliance with standards but can also reduce the risk of system failure and increase the lifespan of the security system.

We can undertake the maintenance of security systems, which will initially involve a comprehensive takeover service.

Some of the key areas a takeover service should typically include are as follows:

Intruder Alarms

  • Ensure the location test is correct.
  • Confirm devices are correct for the grade of the system.
  • Confirm all devices activate correctly (including tamper alarms).
  • Ensure cables are properly terminated and fixed.
  • Confirm the correct consumption and voltage of the current.
  • Ensure backup batteries are of the correct size.
  • Clean all devices.
  • Ensure the system is programmed correctly.
  • Deactivate and activate the system.
  • Input each device into the software management system.

Access Control

  • Ensuring all interfaces are functioning correctly.
  • Checking all fobs, readers, and keypads are functioning.
  • Ensuring the cables are correctly terminated/fixed.
  • Checking fail-safe devices are functioning.
  • Confirming voltages and currents are correct.
  • Confirming users are up to date.

CCTV

  • Confirm the date and time are correct.
  • Clean all devices.

Some security systems should be tested periodically in-house.

We offer management packages in which we can assist the Responsible Person in testing their security systems, including multi-occupied commercial buildings, blocks of flats, HMOs, and holiday lets where staff may not be present.

To ensure our clients receive the most comprehensive service, we use an asset management software, Uptick. This software is ideal for business owners as it streamlines processes, providing a comprehensive overview of all your sites, assets, and outstanding remedial works for a complete audit/accountability trail on your own client portal.
